On Monday (February 17), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruk Ahmed held a discussion meeting with former national team captains. However, two legendary former captains, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan, were not invited to the meeting.

After the meeting, BCB director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim became visibly irritated when asked about the absence of Mashrafe and Shakib. When a journalist inquired whether they were invited or participated online, Fahim reacted angrily, saying, "Do you have to... Is it necessary to ask this question? No... do you really have to ask this?" He then moved on to the next question.

When asked whether the captains who could not attend in person had joined online, Fahim gave a one-word response: "Yes." Former captain Khaled Mashud was one of those who participated virtually. When directly asked whether Shakib had joined online, Fahim again responded with a single word: "No."

Earlier, while speaking to the media, Shahriar Nafees, in charge of BCB’s cricket operations department, stated that all former captains had accepted the board president’s invitation. BCB President Faruk Ahmed mentioned that the board had sought valuable input from former captains on various matters, including the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), to help improve cricket in the country.

Among the former captains present at the meeting were Gazi Ashraf Hossain, Minhajul Abedin, Shahriar Nafees, and Liton Kumar Das, with a total of nine captains attending in person.
