Faisal, Mostafiz arrested from Khagrachari

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Mustafizur Rahman and Faisal Ali, two fugitive accused in the murder of Anwarul Azim Anar, Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-4 constituency.

They were arrested on Wednesday (June 26) by a helicopter raid, led by Additional Commissioner Harun Or Rashid, on various hills of Khagrachari and Chattogram.

“Now the DB team is returning to Dhaka by helicopter with the two accused. The helicopter will land at Bangabandhu Tri Tower at Sector 18 in Purbachal around 6:30pm,” said ADC Junaid Alam of Cyber and Special Crime Division of DB, adding that DB chief Harun Or Rashid will brief the media about the operation there.

On May 22, news suddenly spread that Anwarul Azim was murdered in room BU 56 of a residential building called Sanjeeva Gardens in the Newtown area of Kolkata. Traces of blood were found inside the house. But the body was not found.

Police said that MP Anar was lured to that flat in New Town. At that time Shilasti, Shimul, Tanvir, Jihad Howladar, Siam Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman and Faisal Ali were present in that flat.
