Fake certificate sale: Technical Board chairman's wife remanded
A Dhaka court has placed Sehela Parvin, wife of the chairman of the Technical Education Board (TEB), on a two-day remand in a case filed over selling fake certificates and mark sheets of the board.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain placed her on the remand after police produced her before the court on Sunday (April 21) afternoon.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Sehela from Rajuk Apartment in Uttara Sector 18 on Saturday.
At a press conference at DMP's media center on Sunday noon, DB chief Harun Or Rashid claimed that they had found 'evidence’ of Sehela Parvin's money transactions with a gang involved in making fake certificates, registration cards and admit cards of TEB.
He said, "This gang has earned lakhs of taka by making more than 5,000 fake certificates and mark sheets in the last few years."
The DB police arrested ATM Shamsuzzaman, system analyst of TEB, and Faisal Hossain, a dismissed employee of the board, on April 1 on charges of trading fake certificates and mark sheets.
Harun claimed at the press conference that Shamsuzzaman has a close relationship with Sehela Parvin.
He said, "System analyst Shamsuzzaman used to upload fake certificates on the Technical Education Board website in exchange of money using government password and authorization. So, there was no chance of getting caught red handed.”
It was informed in the press conference that 25 to 30 more people involved in this gang have been identified.
