Farmer killed in shootout between RAB, robbers in Cox’s Bazar

A farmer was killed allegedly in crossfire during a gunfight between Rapid Action Battalion members and a gang of suspected robbers in Morarpara area of Baruakhali union in Cox's Bazar Sadar on Monday evening (April 29).

The deceased was known as Bayatullah, 42.

Confirming the matter, RAB-15 Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel HM Sajjad Hossain said an employee of a private organization Prottasi, was kidnapped yesterday afternoon. On information, RAB conducted a drive in the hills of Murapara area of Baruakhali.

Meanwhile, robbers opened fire aiming RAB officials triggering the gunfight. In reply, the elite force members also opened fire. During the gunfight, Bayet was caught in the line of fire and received bullet injury. Later, he was taken to hospital where duty doctors declared him dead.
