Faruk Khan's viral Facebook post: Daughter claims ID hacked
A post made from the verified Facebook ID of Awami League Presidium member and former Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt. Col. (retd.) Faruk Khan, now in jail, has gone viral.
However, this verified Facebook ID was not available just half an hour after posting this status.
The former minister posted two consecutive posts on his verified Facebook account. In the first post, he is shaking hands with former President Abdul Hamid Khan at an armed forces programme.
The second post says: "I came online after trying a lot. The four walls of jail made us stand in front of our own selves. I want to say a lot, but now I can't say everything."
It also says: "I will say this much, I accepted Sheikh Hasina as the leader, but today, this is the fate of our party because of her stubbornness. There should be no return to politics without a change in the party leadership and a cleansing campaign at all levels. I don't want Sheikh Hasina's Awami League anymore, I want Bangabandhu's Awami League back. Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu."
This status instantly went viral on social media. The question arose, how did he use Facebook, how did he use his mobile while in prison? Again, many have expressed doubts about whether this is his post and personal opinion or not.
In this regard, Faruk Khan's daughter Kantara Khan said: "My father's e-mail, Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp were hacked on December 26. This morning, they asked for money from two people in London in the name of legal assistance."
Kantara Khan said: "If hackers can deceive someone by sending messages or calls from my father's Messenger-WhatsApp, everyone should be alert."
Dhaka Divisional Prisons Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Jahangir Kabir said that prisoners do not have the opportunity to use their personal phones in prison. Therefore, there is no question of them using Facebook while sitting in prison. The information about using Facebook while sitting in prison is not correct.
