Fascists are thrashing Bangladesh's image globally: Mirza Fakhrul
Alleging that fascists are hatching new plots and conspiracies from across the border, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the dictatorship and fascists who fled in the face of the mass uprising are plotting to ruin Bangladesh's image in the world by causing various incidents.
He said: "Fascists are sitting across the border. New plots and conspiracies are being hatched from there. It is being written in Indian newspapers and magazines, on our social media as if all the worst incidents are happening in Bangladesh now."
He said this at a student rally organized by the Thakurgaon Chhatra Kalyan Parishad in Dhaka at the Krishibid Institution (KIB) auditorium in Khamarbari on Friday (November 29) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said: "We have no time to be happy that we have won, everything is over. The sword is still above our heads. We have not yet crossed the threshold. We have gone through a phase. That phase is that Hasina has fled. But darkness is spreading all around. What we have achieved should not go in vain."
"They (fascists) are trying to take us back to darkness. For this, we have to be very vigilant, we have to be careful. No one can create any kind of arrogance, any chaos, it has to be stopped," he added.
Criticizing the ousted Awami League leadership, he said: "They have finished everything. They have left nothing anywhere. They have completely looted and destroyed everything. We have to stop these things. We have to build resistance."
Regarding the unexpected incidents of the last few days, Fakhrul said: "I am very scared again when I see a lawyer killed in the name of ISKCON, in the name of religion. We did not want to see this Bangladesh. We are coming to a new place, are seeing new dreams, are seeing new horizons. We do not want to see such incidents there."
"I am very sad, very sad when I see our boys fighting in colleges. When you achieved such a big victory, expelled a fascist from the country, created history in the world, at that time we have to see that college students are fighting and getting injured. This is absolutely unacceptable. We have to stand against this. This is a conspiracy, a conspiracy," he added.
Saluting the students for their role in the student-public movement, Mirza Fakhrul said: "It is almost impossible to fight against fascism with bare hands. Armed forces are needed. You have succeeded in that area. For that, I salute you."
At the same time, he expressed hope with the current situation and said: "I would have been very happy if I had seen our anti-discrimination students coming out with a procession joined by thousands of students saying that we want peace."
