Father accused of killing 16-month-old child in Cumilla
A father has been accused of killing a 16-month-old child in Muradnagar, Cumilla. The locals arrested the accused father Abu Naeem (45) in this incident and handed him over to the police. The incident took place on Saturday (February 22) afternoon in Uttarpara village of Muradnagar Upazila Sadar.
The accused Abu Naeem is the son of the deceased Abdul Khalek of Uttarpara village in Muradnagar. He led the prayer in a mosque in Dhaka. The deceased child, Abdullah alias Rafsan, is the third child of Abu Naeem.
Locals said that Abu Naeem had been denying that the child Abdullah was his child since his birth. After his birth, he even tried to kill the child once. There was a dispute within the family over this for a few days. Several attempts were made to resolve the dispute socially in this incident.
Mother Shahida Akhter complained that her son Abdullah had been feeling fever since Friday. On Saturday morning, I told my husband that I was taking him to the doctor. Then he said, "You stay at home, I will take him." He took Abdullah and left. I could not contact him because he had switched off his mobile phone. At around 12:30 pm, he brought his son dead. When I screamed, the locals arrested him. "My husband killed his son."
Muradnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Zahidu Rahman said, "The father, Abu Nayem, has been arrested on charges of murdering his son. The child's body has been sent to the Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy to find out the root cause of death."
