The ferry service on the Daulatdia-Paturia route, linking the 21 southern districts of Bangladesh, resumed at 9.00 am on Monday after a suspension of nearly 9 hours.

At midnight on Sunday, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) temporarily suspended all ferry and vessel operations due to dense fog in the Padma-Jamuna rivers, to avoid accidents. However, as the fog cleared, ferry services resumed at 9.00 am.

Mohammad Salauddin, Assistant General Manager (Commercial) of the Daulatdia Ferry Terminal, said, "Visibility had reduced to nearly zero because of the fog, but now that the situation has improved, ferry services have resumed. All types of vessels are now operating safely."

Although the temporary halt of ferry services caused some inconvenience for passengers and freight vehicles traveling to and from the southern region, the waterway is now functioning normally.
