FIFA penalizes Bangladesh for violation of stadium security
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has been fined with 15,000 Swiss Francs (approximately Tk20 lakh) due to a security breach during Bangladesh's World Cup qualifier match against Australia on June 6 at the Bashundhara Kings Arena.
BFF General Secretary Emran Hossain Tushar made the information public on Sunday.
FIFA had previously levied fines of 11,250 Swiss Francs and 1,400 Swiss Francs for security issues during World Cup qualifying games against Lebanon on November 21, 2023, and the Maldives on October 17, 2023, both held at the same venue.
The cumulative amount of fines stemming from spectator-related incidents now totals Tk 53 lakh. In light of these penalties, the BFF general secretary urged fans to adhere to the rules and regulations while attending international matches to prevent further sanctions.
