FIFA President to visit Bangladesh, aims to boost women's football support
FIFA President Gianni Infantino was invited to the ongoing youth festival in Bangladesh, which is focused on building a new Bangladesh. However, he expressed his regret for not being able to attend the event. Despite this, he has expressed a desire to visit Bangladesh by March.
On Wednesday (January 22), the FIFA President stated that he intends to visit Bangladesh within the next two months. His visit is anticipated to bring substantial financial support from FIFA for women's football in Bangladesh.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, FIFA President Infantino told Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, that he wants to visit Bangladesh. He said, "I plan to visit Bangladesh within the next two months."
Infantino also said, "FIFA will work on developing football in South Asia. We will provide financial support for the development of facilities and infrastructure for women’s football in Bangladesh. Additionally, we will support women’s football in Saudi Arabia, where Bangladeshi expatriates will benefit as well."
Furthermore, Infantino praised Dr. Muhammad Yunus for his ideas on ensuring sports remain impartial.
The meeting was attended by Lamia Morshed, the SDG Coordinator of the Bangladesh Government, and Tariq Ariful Islam, the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Geneva.
