Fire engulfs 14 buses parked in Demra

A number of 14 buses parked at Demra in the capital have been engulfed in a terrible fire.

The fire broke out in a garage at Konapara in Dharmikpara area of Demra tonight (April 1) at 8:50pm.

The fire was brought under control at 9:48pm after the hectic efforts of six units of fire service, said Fire Service Warehouse Inspector Md Anwarul Islam, adding that 14 Volvo buses parked in the garage were burnt in the fire.He, however, could not confirm how the bus caught fire.

Dhaka Fire Service Deputy Assistant Director Faisalur Rahman said that 14 buses of London Transport in the garage caught fire.

On information, two units of Demra Fire Service first went to the spot at 8:59pm. Later, four more units from Siddikbazar went there and brought the fire under control, he added.
