Fire service worker electrocuted during tree removal operation

In Khagrachari, a fire service worker died from electrocution in the storm while removing a tree that had fallen on the road.

The incident occurred in the Alutila area of the district at around 11:00 pm on Monday (May 27).

The deceased was identified as Rasel Hossain (20), son of Abdul Razzak of Dhamrai of Dhaka.

Officer Rajesh Barua of the Khagrachari Fire Service station explained that Cyclone Remal caused trees to collapse onto roads in multiple locations in Alutila. Regrettably, an accident occurred during the cutting process when the trees came into contact with a 33,000 volt wire.

He said, "He was rescued immediately and rushed to Khagrachari Sadar Hospital, where the doctor pronounced him dead."
