Fire strikes again at Bangabandhu Medical in Faridpur, medicines-equipment burnt
A fire broke out in the storeroom of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital in Faridpur, resulting in the destruction of medicines and various equipment. This marks the third fire incident in the hospital within the last one and a half-months.
Assistant Director of Faridpur Fire Service, Md Asaduzzaman, said the fire broke out at the store room of the hospital's first floor around 8.00 am and engulfed the whole room.
Sensing smoke billowing from the store room, the staff informed the local fire service who extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes.
The firefighting units faced some difficulty in extinguishing the blaze due to the congested stairs.
Dipak Kumar, deputy director of the hospital, said medicine, machinery, refrigerators and other valuable things were stored at the storeroom of the hospital.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Quamrul Ahsan Talukdar and Superintendent of Faridpur Police Morshed Alam visited the spot.
A probe body was formed to look into it since this is the second fire at the hospital, said Deputy Commissioner Quamrul.
