The flood water has started receding from Noakhali as the district has not received heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours. Noakhali Water Development Board confirmed this information on Saturday (August 24) morning. According to the information of the Water Development Board, the water level has decreased by three to four inches in the district town and surrounding upazilas. Also, the water is coming down at high speed through the regulator connected to the river. Earlier, 87 unions of eight upazilas of Noakhali were flooded by heavy rains and Feni River water, leaving at least 2 million people trapped in water.

নোয়াখালীতে গত ২৪ ঘণ্টায় ভারী বৃষ্টিপাত না হওয়ায় বন্যার পানি কমতে শুরু করেছে। শনিবার (২৪ আগস্ট) সকালে নোয়াখালী পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড সূত্রে এ তথ্য জানা গেছে। পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের তথ্য অনুযায়ী, জেলা শহর ও আশপাশের উপজেলায় ৩ থেকে ৪ ইঞ্চি পানি কমেছে। এছাড়াও নদীর সঙ্গে সংযুক্ত রেগুলেটর দিয়ে তীব্র গতিতে নামছে পানি। জানা গেছে, দ্বিতীয় দিনের মতো আজ শনিবার (২৪ আগস্ট) নোয়াখালীতে সূর্যের দেখা মিলেছে। এতে বানভাসি মানুষের মাঝে ফিরেছে স্বস্তি। এর আগে ভারী বর্ষণ ও ফেনী নদীর পানিতে নোয়াখালীর ৮ উপজেলার ৮৭ ইউনিয়ন প্লাবিত হয়। এতে পানিবন্দি হয়ে পড়েন অন্তত ২০ লাখ মানুষ।
