Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud, now in Turkey, will attend a special conference of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (March 5) to discuss Israel's continued aggression against the Palestinian people.

The meeting will be held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

From Turkey, the foreign minister will travel to Jeddah to attend the meeting, a senior official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

During his participation in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum held in Turkey on March 1-3, the foreign minister described the event as an important platform for international dialogue.

At the forum, Hasan Mahmoud stressed the urgent need for collective efforts to stop the ongoing massacre in Gaza.

He called on Israel to be held accountable for crimes against humanity and genocide.

The OIC headquarters said that OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha is expected to address the opening session of the OIC conference.

The draft resolution of the conference will be discussed and adopted on Monday (March 4) which will be submitted to the Council of Foreign Ministers for consideration.

In November last year, Saudi Arabia hosted a special joint Arab and Islamic summit jointly organised by the OIC and the League of Arab States in Riyadh.

The summit decided to form a committee of foreign ministers of OIC member countries to visit different international organisations, urging them to take initiative to stop Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

On October 18 last year, a foreign minister level special meeting of the open executive committee was held at the OIC headquarters as part of the continued efforts to stop Israel's barbaric aggression against the Palestinian people that started from October 7, 2023.
