Former deputy minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy held
Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy has been arrested in connection with a murder case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMP) public relations branch issued a message in this regard.
According to the DMP's statement, Arif Khan Joy was arrested on Monday night from the capital's Dhanmondi area.
He was held in connection with a murder case filed at Mohammadpur Police Station.
Arif Khan Joy was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Netrakona-2 constituency on an Awami League ticket in 2014.
Following his election, the former national football team captain was appointed as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He served in this role for four years but did not receive the Awami League nomination in the 2018 election.
