Former President Hamid’s departure: 3 police officers withdrawn, suspended
The police headquarters has taken action against three police personnel, including a member of the immigration police, for alleged negligence in connection with the departure of former President Md Abdul Hamid from the country.
AIG (Media and PR) of the Police Headquarters Enamul Haque Sagar confirmed the information on Thursday (May 8).
He said that in connection with the departure of Md Abdul Hamid, an Additional Superintendent of Police from the Immigration Police has been withdrawn for alleged negligence in duty.
Additionally, the investigating officer of a case filed against Abdul Hamid at Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station and an officer from the Special Branch (SB) of police have been temporarily suspended.
Earlier, at 3:05am on Wednesday (May 7), former President Abdul Hamid left the country on a Thai Airways flight.
According to airport immigration sources, Abdul Hamid was in very poor physical condition. Citing lack of security, he did not receive treatment at a hospital. Therefore, for advanced medical care, he went to Shahjalal International Airport around 11pm last night disguised as a regular passenger. At that time, he was wearing a mask and a cap.
