Fugitive convict in PM Hasina's motorcade attack case arrested in Jashore
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-6) has arrested a fugitive convict in Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's motorcade attack case, from near Jashore Cantonment. Yasin Ali (57), sentenced to seven years imprisonment, is the son of late Yusuf Ali of Tulshidanga village of Kolaroa upazila of Satkhira.
Major Mohammad Sakib Hossain, camp captain of Rab-6 in Jashore, said, "On August 30, 2002, when the then leader of the opposition party, the current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, reached the Kolaroa police station area of Satkhira, some terrorists attacked her convoy with firearms and hand grenades to kill her."
In that incident, 3 separate cases were filed in Kolaroa police station. At the end of the trial of the cases, as the truth of the incident was proved, on April 18, 2023, the judge of the Special Tribunal-3 of Satkhira sentenced the involved accused to various terms. Yasin Ali was one of the planners and attackers of that attack.
Out of the 48 accused in 2 cases under the Arms and Explosives Act, 44 people including Yasin Ali were sentenced to 7 years. After the verdict, Yasin Ali ran away to different parts of the country. Rab confirms Yasin's location based on intelligence. He was going to Shantala area from Bejpara area of Jashore city on Tuesday night. Yasin Ali was arrested during a raid at Shantala intersection.
