Ganajagran Manch welcomes Jamaat-Shibir ban
Ganajagran Manch has welcomed the notification issued by the government on Thursday (August 1), banning the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
One of the six demands of the Shahbag movement in 2013 was to ban religious politics including Jamaat-Shibir, says a press release signed by Ganajagaran Mancha Spokesperson Imran H Sarker.
According to the release, after more than a decade of Shahbag movement, the government has come to realize the horror of continuous and unprecedented violence by the Jamaat-Shibir, which the Ganajagran Manch has repeatedly presented to the government. But in the meantime, many acts of violence, militancy and loss of life have occurred in the country under the leadership of Jamaat-Shibir.
However, in the situation that Bangladesh is facing today, banning the politics of this war criminal group is not enough. Another one of the six demands of Ganajagran Manch was to investigate the huge economic empire of fundamentalism built by this organization.
The comrades of Ganajagran Manch became victims of the violent politics of Jamaat-Shibir which gave rise to the terrible militancy. Jamaat's politics of killing bloggers and free-thinking people has not been fully judged, said the release.
Ganajagran Manch demanded that the blogger's murder trials should be completed immediately and the verdict should be implemented.
