Gaurab ’71 welcomes Jamaat-Shibir ban
Gaurav '71, a pro-independence social and cultural organisation, has congratulated the government for banning Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
In a press release signed by Gaurab ’71 president SM Monirul Islam Moni and general secretary FM Shahin, the organization said, “Jamaat-e-Islami and its student organisation Islami Chhatra Shibir should not only be politically banned, all their financial institutions should be confiscated and their assets should be deposited in the state treasury.”
“In order to stop the militant activities of Jamaat-Shibir, it is necessary to ban all their social, cultural and religious institutions. The leaders of Jamaat-Shibir should not be able to form a new political party with the same ideology,” said the press release.
It is regrettable that the party has been banned after such loss of life and state propertiers. But the Shahbagh mass awakening movement was the best time in the recent past to ban this militant political party. At that time, almost the entire nation was vocal about banning the politics of Jamaat-Shibir, it added.
“Congratulations again to the government for banning Jamaat-Shibir after a long time,” the release said.
