Gazipur cylinder explosion death toll rises to 14
Two more people died on Tuesday due to the deadly gas cylinder explosion at Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur. The death toll now has increased to 14.
The deceased are Kushtia car helper Yasin Arafat (21), garment worker Mashiur Rahman (22) and Kamala Khatun (65), said Hossain Imam, associate professor of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
He said Yasin died at 7:30pm and Moshiur died at 9:50pm while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the institute.
He said that 85 percent of Yasin's body, 60 percent of Moshiur and 80 percent of Kamala Khatun were burnt. Another 14 are currently undergoing treatment.
Mentionable, at least 35 people, including women and children, were critically burnt in a gas cylinder explosion at Teliarchar area in Kaliakoir on March 13 evening.
The gas cylinder exploded in front of a house around 6:00pm after residents of the house threw it on the road and it exploded.
