Gold prices increase again

The price of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,983 per bhori due to an increase in the price of pure gold in the local market, the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) announced on Wednesday(January 22).

With the hike, each bhori of 22-carat gold will now cost Tk 141,426, according to a statement from BAJUS. The new pricing will take effect from Thursday, January 23, and will remain valid until further notice.

The price for other categories of gold has also been adjusted. Each bhori of 21-carat gold is now priced at Tk 138,999, while 18-carat gold will cost Tk 115,719. The price of traditional gold has been set at Tk 95,062 per bhori.

BAJUS also noted that a 5 percent VAT and a minimum 6 percent wage must be added to the price of gold jewelry.
