Google Pay set to launch in Bangladesh within a month: Asif Mahmud
Google Pay, the globally popular digital payment platform, is expected to officially launch in Bangladesh within the next month, according to Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In a post on his verified Facebook account on Friday (May 30), Mahmud announced the upcoming launch, saying, “After a long wait, Google Pay is finally set to go live in Bangladesh.”
He added that the service will begin operations within the country’s digital payment ecosystem in the coming weeks. Once launched, smartphone users in Bangladesh will be able to use their devices as a full-fledged digital wallet, reducing the need to carry physical debit or credit cards.
