Govt employees getting 5 days of Eid vacation
Government employees are getting five consecutive days of vacation, from June 14 to 18, during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha.
The moon of the month of Zilhaj was sighted in Bangladesh on Friday (June 7) evening. As a result, the month of Zilhaj has started from Saturday (June 8) and the Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on the 10th of this Arabic month.
As such, Eid-ul-Azha, the second major religious festival of the country’s Muslim community, will be celebrated in the country on June 17 (Monday).
On the occasion, there will be public holidays on June 16, 17 and 18 (Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). But the weekend holidays of Friday and Saturday (June 14 and 15) are just before the Eid holidays. That's why the Eid vacation of government employees will start from June 14. They will be on vacation till June 18.
According to the Public Administration Ministry, there is a general holiday on Eid-ul-Azha and on the day before and after Eid, the government officials-employees enjoy government holidays through executive order.
