Govt to buy rice at Tk 45 per kg during Boro season

The government has fixed the procurement price of paddy and rice for the upcoming Boro season.

The prices were fixed at a meeting of the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee (FPMC) at the conference room of the Cabinet Division in the capital on Sunday (April 21).

Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder presided over the meeting.

In the meeting, the target of collection of 5 lakh tonnes of paddy, 11 lakh tonnes of parboiled rice, 1 lakh tonnes of atap rice and 50 thousand tonnes of wheat has been set for the upcoming boro season. The collection price of boro paddy has been fixed at Tk 32 per kg, parboiled rice at Tk 45 per kg, atap rice at Tk 44 per kg and wheat at Tk 34 per kg. In 2023, the collection price of paddy and rice was Tk 30 for paddy, Tk 44 for parboiled rice and Tk 35 for wheat respectively.

Industry Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Md Tajul Islam, Agriculture Minister Md Abdus Shahid, State Minister for Relief and Disaster Management Md Mohibbur Rahman, State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Begum Rokeya Sultana and secretaries of various ministries participated in the meeting.
