Since the price of hilsa is out of reach of buyers, the government will sell it at 600 taka per kg from Sunday. The weight of these hilsa will be 450 to 850 grams.

The Bangladesh Fisheries Development Corporation (BFDC) gave this information on Saturday (January 18).

It is learned that after the formal inauguration by Farida Akhtar, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, on Sunday (January 19) afternoon, this hilsa fish will be sold at the fish market of the BFDC building in Karwan Bazar.

BFDC Director Advait Chandra Das told the media, "The amount of salable hilsa fish in this lot is 850 kg. Buyers will get it first come, first served. We expect that all the fish will be sold within a week.

In this regard, Enam Chowdhury, president of the Bangladesh Marine Fisheries Association, told the media, "We have joined this program without any profit to feed people with hilsa at a low price. If we get success in selling hilsa fish at a low price on an experimental basis, we will take bigger initiatives later."
