'Govt to sell TCB products through permanent stores'
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said that the effort to hand over the products of TCB to the beneficiaries through permanent stores from the next financial year is continuing.
He said this at the opening ceremony of TCB's product sales programme for the month of June this year on Sunday (June 2).
The State Minister of Commerce said: "We do not want to give TCB products temporarily. We want to provide these products through permanent stores from next financial year. Beneficiaries can collect the products on time. This effort is continuing. I would request the dealers to do this too."
"In the next financial year, we will try to create a buffer stock of TCB. So that even if there is shortage of products in the market at different times, we can control the price and can supply products from that buffer stock. For this we have signed an agreement with Russia. Trying to make agreements with some other countries," he added.
The state minister said: "If our shop becomes permanent, then a network of around 10,000 will be created. Now we are providing products at fair price only to lower and lower middle class. We have plans to provide products to the middle class at a fair price."
He also said that every month the government tries to deliver TCB products to the beneficiaries as soon as possible.
TCB was able to start this operation on the first working day in June. "I thank the TCB chairman and other officials for this. This action to deliver daily necessities to one crore families at a fair price."
At this time, the Minister of State for Commerce expressed the desire to hand over this package of TCB to every beneficiary in the country before Eid al-Adha.
He further said that when one crore families get these essential commodities, the market demand of sugar, rice, pulses and oil is also met to some extent.
"Through this, as we are giving four products at subsidized prices to one crore families, we are also controlling the price pressure in the market. Two objectives are being achieved through this one activity. Not only the beneficiary families are benefited by this, but the market pressure is also reduced."
Stating that the yield of paddy has been very good this season, the state minister said that the food department is collecting paddy and rice.
It is known that in June, one crore beneficiary families across the country will be given five kilograms of rice at the rate of Tk 30, two liters of soybean oil at the rate of Tk 100, two kg of lentils at the rate of Tk 60 and one kg of sugar at the rate of Tk 70 in Dhaka. The price of each package is Tk540.
