Greece to open embassy in Bangladesh: Foreign Minister
Greece has decided to open embassies in six more countries and Bangladesh is one of them. Foreign Minister and Joint General Secretary of Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud revealed the information while addressing a meeting as the chief guest organised by the Bangladeshi Community in Greece marking the historic Mujibnagar Day at the 'Novotel Athens' hotel ballroom in Athens on Wednesday.
The foreign minister is currently on a visit to the Greece to attend the 9th 'Our Ocean Conference'.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “BNP does not observe March 7 which is an integral part of our liberation war. This proves how much faith BNP has in the liberation war.”
The foreign minister said, “In 1971, Ziaur Rahman was an employee with a monthly salary of Tk 400 like other sector commanders under the Mujibnagar government. But regrettably, the BNP does not observe April 17, the swearing-in day of the Mujibnagar government.”
Informing that the Greek foreign minister has appreciated the lawful and hardworking life of the Bangladeshis living in Greece, Hasan Mahmud called upon everyone to keep this reputation intact and send remittances through legal channels.
Presided over by Greece Awami League President Abdul Mannan Matubbar and conducted by general secretary Md Babul Howlader, the meeting was also attended, among others, by Charge the Affairs of Bangladesh Embassy in Greece Mohammad Khaled, and Bangladesh community members Gholam Mawla, Abdul Quddus, Abdul Khalek Matubbar, Ahsan Ullah Hasan, Sheikh Al Amin, Abdul Quddus Matubbar, Raihan Khan, and Mizanur Rahman Alfa.
