Group photo session to be scrapped at Ekushey Padak ceremony
The government has decided to scrap the traditional practice of group photo sessions at the Ekushey Padak ceremony, the country's second highest award.
Ministry of Cultural issued a press release in this regard on Monday.
The press release quoted the Cultural Affairs Adviser as saying that since Sunday, discussions have been going on in various quarters regarding the group photo session of the Bangla Academy awardees. According to the previous practice, a formal group photo session is organized for the awardees with representatives of the government or awarding institutions. So far, no disagreement or objection has been heard in this regard.
The adviser said that the current government is moving on the path of reform and modernization. Therefore, there is an opportunity to rethink any traditional practice.
A detailed discussion was held yesterday at the Ministry of Cultural Affairs on how group photo sessions can be organized at the award ceremony in a more respectful manner and while maintaining the dignity of the awardees.
After the discussion, it was decided that the group photo session will be scrapped from this year's Ekushey Padak ceremony. The ministry is working to organize group photo sessions for Ekushey Padak recipients in a more respectful and reasonable manner.
