Hajj visa application period extended till May 7
Following a request of the Ministry of Religion, the government Saudi Arabia has extended the deadline for submission of Hajj visa applications. As a result, pilgrims can apply for Hajj visa till May 7. Earlier, the deadline was April 29.
Hajj Agency Association Bangladesh (HAAB) President M Shahadat Hossain Taslim told the media that in view of the request of the Minister of Religion, the Saudi Hajj and Umrah Ministry has extended the Hajj visa application period for Bangladeshis from April 29 to May 7.
He requested everyone to apply for visa within this period.
Secretary to Ministry of Religion Md Abdul Hamid Jamaddar said, “Most of the pilgrims going to perform Hajj under private management have not been able to apply for visa yet. Not being able to rent a house is one of the reasons. It is not even possible to apply for the visas of such a large number of pilgrims in a few days. Due to this reason, the Saudi government and embassy were requested to extend the Hajj visa application period.”
Thanking the Saudi government for extending the time, the secretary said that Hajj agencies will apply for visas during this period.
This year's Hajj flights will start from May 9. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will officially inaugurate the process on May 8.
