Michael Chakma, a leader of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), has filed a complaint with the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) alleging enforced disappearance against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and eight others.

Chakma presented a towel (gamchha), which was reportedly used to blindfold him during his abduction, as evidence. He also described the "Ayna Ghar" where he was confined for over five years.

Chakma explained that the UPDF's 2013 siege programme during Sheikh Hasina’s Khagrachhari visit, along with opposition to the Chattogram Hill Tracts Peace Accord, led to multiple interrogations.

He also believed that he was abducted by law enforcement agencies, reports BSS.

Earlier, Michael was kidnapped on April 9, 2019, from the Kanchpur area of Narayanganj while returning to Dhaka, and was released on August 7 this year following the downfall of Sheikh Hasina’s government during the July-August uprising.
