HC likely to hear Chinmoy's bail petition today

Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das has submitted a bail plea to the High Court in connection with a sedition case.

The petition is listed as item 306 in today’s (Monday) cause list of the High Court bench comprising Justice Atowar Rahman and Justice Mohammad Ali Reza.

Earlier, on January 2, the Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court denied Chinmoy Das's bail application. The sedition case, lodged on October 31 last year, accused him and 18 others of desecrating the national flag.

Chinmoy Das was arrested in Dhaka on November 25. The next day, his bail plea was rejected, and the Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate ordered his imprisonment. On the same day, violent clashes broke out on the court premises, resulting in the fatal attack on lawyer Saiful Islam.
