Health Minister issues warning to doctors absent from work
Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Saturday said, "My only directive is to improve healthcare at the grassroots level. I have informed all members of the health ministry, including the Director-General, about the reasons for doctors' absence from work. Areas where doctors were absent have already been addressed, and appropriate actions are being taken. Additionally, I am closely monitoring the performance of active personnel to ensure they are fulfilling their duties effectively."
He came up with these remarks while talking to the reporters after visiting Tungipara Upazila Health Complex of Gopalganj on Saturday (April 27).
Regarding the manpower crisis in the hospital, the minister said, "The manpower issue is not a short-term problem; it is a long-standing issue. We have initiated measures to address it, with standardized setups approved."
"Given the heatwave, I have instructed every civil surgeon to promptly treat and discharge individuals with minor ailments to keep hospital beds available for emergency cases, " he added.
