Heatwave sweeps over Bangladesh as temperatures soar
A mild to moderate heatwave is currently affecting Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet, with indications suggesting it could persist, according to BMD’s weather bulletin on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, rain and thundershowers, along with temporary gusty or squally winds, are expected in Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rangpur, and Sylhet divisions. However, for the rest of the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with temporary partly cloudy skies.
According to the bulletin, day and night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged across the country.
About the synoptic conditions, the Meteorological Department said, the extension of western low pressure is staying over West Bengal and adjoining areas. Seasonal normal low pressure is located over South Bay of Bengal.
Yesterday's maximum temperature of 42.2 degrees Celsius was recorded at Khepupara of Patuakhali and today's minimum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.
