Hefazat demands banning Awami League through judicial process
Hefazat-e-Islam has demanded banning Awami League through judicial process and holding parliamentary elections based on national consensus.
In a statement sent to the media on Sunday (March 23), the organization's Amir Muhibullah Babunagari and Secretary General Sajedur Rahman said that Awami League should be banned in line with judicial process as a 'fascist party'.
In this regard, the interim government should publish specific strategies and plans with the support and coordination of all anti-fascist parties.
"No social and political activity can be allowed to continue in the name of Awami League. Due to 'Indian brokers in disguise' in state institutions, the judicial process of 'Shapla massacre, Peelkhana massacre, disappearance-murder and killings of 2024' has become motionless. Ensure full justice after further investigation and investigation into each 'genocide' incident. Whoever or whoever stands in the way of this will be identified as an enemy of the people and the country's independence and sovereignty," they said.
The Hefazat leaders said: "The differences over the national elections have become acute. We believe that there is no room for it to depend on the will of any single group or individual. Rather, parliamentary elections should be held on the basis of adequate state reforms, the trial of the 'genocide', national consensus and the spontaneous demands of the people. We will not allow our state to return to the old 'fascist structure and chains of slavery."
They said: "The state structure must be reformed while keeping the faith, religion, culture, education and civilization of the majority Muslim people of the country intact. 'The consumerist philosophy based on Western and Hindutva consciousness' will not bring any good. All political parties should remember that it will not be possible for anyone to come to power or survive through legitimate means without the support of scholars and the monotheistic people."
They said: "After six months of observation, we feel that at this moment, along with state reform, reform of the Advisory Council is also necessary. The inefficiency and failure of most advisors are already visible. The spirit of the July Revolution is also absent among many. Instead of working to abolish the fascist system, some are simply enjoying the chairs they suddenly got. This cannot continue for long. Uncertainty has risen among the people. As a result, we strongly urge the chief advisor of the interim government to appoint smart and revolutionary-minded people to the Advisory Council, excluding those who have failed to deal with the current multifaceted crisis."
Hefazat has also demanded immediate withdrawal of all cases filed against Hefazat leaders and activists during the Awami League government.
