Helicopter crashes in India, killing and injuring several
Four tourists were killed and two others injured in a helicopter crash near Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand, India, on Thursday morning, according to APA citing NDTV.
The helicopter was carrying six people when it crashed while en route from Dehradun to the Harsil helipad. From there, the tourists were scheduled to travel about 30 km by road to Gangnani.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami confirmed the incident on social media, offering condolences to the victims’ families. "May God grant peace to the souls of those who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense loss," he wrote.
Dhami said he has directed authorities to provide all necessary assistance to the injured and to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash. “I am in constant contact with officials, and the situation is being closely monitored,” he added.
Rescue efforts are currently underway, with teams from the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF) and the local district administration at the scene. The District Magistrate of Uttarkashi has also traveled to the site.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
