Hizb ut-Tahrir leader Tawhid arrested
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-2 and RAB-7 have arrested a leader of Hizb ut-Tahrir, a banned militant organization, Touhidul Islam alias Tawhid (25). He was arrested from Khulshi area in Chattogram.
Confirming the information on Monday (April 8), ASP Shihab Karim, assistant director of RAB-2, said, “Arrestee Touhid is a responsible member of the Dawati section of the banned militant organization. Touhid is an absconding accused in an anti-terrorism case filed with Hazaribagh police station. He had been in hiding for a long time.”
“Hizb ut-Tahrir continued its activities from hiding. Since the arrest warrant was issued against him, RAB-2 has been monitoring the accused,” he added.
The RAB official said that efforts are being made to arrest other members of Hizb ut-Tahrir after verifying the information received from Touhid.
