Holding local, national polls at a time proposed

Former Chief Election Commissioner Justice Mohammad Abdur Rauf has proposed 'one time' voting for the elections of representatives from the Union Parishad to the National Assembly.

He said there is no need to waste so much paper and spend so much money by repeatedly voting. All can be done in one election.

He made this proposal in a meeting with the Electoral System Reform Commission at the Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday (November 20).

After the meeting, Justice Rauf told reporters, "I have conducted six (parliament and local government) elections. Proportional representation can be introduced in Parliament."

Later, the head of the Electoral Reform Commission Md Badiul Alam Majumder said there are many important, novel, creative proposals. We will make our recommendations after reviewing all proposals.
