Home Minister asks to launch stern action in Bandarban
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Saturday said stern action will be taken against those involved in Bandarban bank robberies and looting firearms of police and Ansar.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to the reporters at the Ruma Upazila complex after inspecting the Sonali Bank branch there.
Asaduzzaman Khan said, "Law enforcers along with army and border guards will launch a crackdown against the criminals in the district from Saturday."
Besides, the home minister said, "Action will be taken against the detectives if they fail to provide information in advance of the robbery incident."
During the visit to the bank, the Home Minister was accompanied by State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura, Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP, BGB DG Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, Ansar VDP DG Major General AKM Aminul Haque, Additional Police Commissioner Monirul Islam and other senior officials.
Earlier on Tuesday, a group of armed members of the militant group of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) attacked Upazila Parishad office and later they stormed to Sonali Bank's Ruma Branch in Bandarban and abducted its Manager Nizam Uddin. They also looted firearms, and cash from local banks.
