Housewife commits suicide by jumping from building in Sylhet
A housewife commited suicide by jumping from a building in Sylhet's Amberkhana area on Tuesday morning (April 1).
The deceased was identified as Sabiha Sultana, 37, daughter of the late Mohi Uddin Ahmed of Shologhar Colony Road in Sunamganj Sadar Upazila. Her husband, Sardar Md. Faisal Imam, is an employee of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The couple has a 10-year-old child.
Police, with the help of the fire service, recovered her body after receiving information about the incident around 10.00am.
Sabiha's family members stated that she had been suffering from mental health issues and had attempted suicide multiple times in the past. Her husband, Faisal Imam, also confirmed this.
According to police, Sabiha lived with her father’s family in a flat on the sixth floor of a six-story building at House No. 8, Amberkhana. CCTV footage from the building showed her jumping from the balcony at 8:56 a.m. Her body became stuck on the cornice of a three-story building next.
On information, the fire service arrived at the scene and retrieved the body.
Confirming the matter, Airport Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Anisur Rahman, said, "The body was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for autopsy."
