Human chain formed demanding train stoppage in Faridpur
Faridpur residents have blocked the train and formed a human chain at the Faridpur railway station, demanding the inclusion of a stop for the Dhaka-bound Chandana commuter train starting from Rajbari. The demonstration took place at Faridpur railway station for approximately one hour starting at 5:30 am on Saturday (May 11)
The protestors, after covering the bodies with shrouds, lay down on the railway track, blocking the train. They later lifted the blockade and gave a 48-hour ultimatum upon assurance from Pakshi's divisional railway officials. After about fifteen minutes of blockade, the train departed for Bhanga station as the protestors moved off the tracks.
Recently, Chandana commuter trains commenced operations from Rajbari to the capital Dhaka via Bhanga starting May 5. However, the absence of a stop at Faridpur railway station has caused significant dissatisfaction among railway passengers in Faridpur.
