Husband arrested after slaughtering wife, son in hotel
A man named Azizul Haque has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife and one-year old child by slitting their throats in Bogura.
The murder happened on Saturday (June 1) night and the sharp weapon used in the murder has been recovered, according to police sources.
The deceased have been identified as Ashamani (23) and her one-year-old son Abdullah Al Rafi. Azizul (24), who was arrested in this incident, is the son of Hamidul Islam of Heutnagar village at Dhunat upazila in Bogura. He is serving in the army being stationed in Chattogram.
Suruzzaman Suruj, Manager of Shuvechchha Residential Hotel, said that he came to know about the murder on Sunday (June 2) morning. Azizul was not in the hotel at that time. Later, when Azizul came to the hotel around 9:00am, he was detained and the police were informed.
In this regard, Asadul Islam, the father of the deceased Ashamani, said, “After 9:00pm Saturday, Azizul told me that Ashamani and Rafi had been sent to Akashtara area in Bogura city in an auto-rickshaw. Since then there was no trace of them. Azizul said this after killing his wife and children.”
Meanwhile, Azizul's father said, “I don't know why he did so. They got married three years ago.”
Inspector (Investigation) Abul Kalam Azad of Shajahanpur police station in Bogura said, “Preparations are underway to send the bodies to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. At the same time, efforts are being made to recover Rafi's severed head.”
Azad said, “On Saturday noon, Azizul came to Shuvechchha residential hotel at Banani in Bogura city and rented a room. Later that evening, he went to room 301 of the hotel with his wife and children. There Azizul slaughtered his wife Ashamani and son Rafi with sharp weapons. Later, Azizul hid Rafi's severed head. During initial interrogation, Azizul said that he threw his son's head in the Karatoya river.”
