Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruque Ahmed has recently faced widespread criticism. Speaking to the media in Mirpur, he urged people to stop spreading such criticism on Saturday (April 3). He said, “Sometimes, good work gets overlooked due to external influences. We will try (speaking to journalists) to do both—appreciate the good and criticize the bad. That’s only normal.”

Faruque Ahmed also addressed the controversies surrounding financial matters and his personal relationships. According to him, some people want his position as BCB President and are raising questions for that reason.

He said, “It’s hard to say exactly why. But many people are interested in the position of cricket board president. They could be behind this.”

There has also been discussion not only about BCB’s financial affairs but also Faruque Ahmed’s personal connections. Some claim that his friend S M Rana had ties with the now-overthrown Awami League government, and that Faruque himself may have had links with them. Responding to these claims, Faruque said, “The term ‘fascist regime’ is often just a label. I don’t want to get into a long discussion about that. But I have no connection with any fascist.”

He added, “If I were really connected to a fascist regime, I wouldn’t be standing here today talking to you. I became President during this new government’s tenure. You have to understand that. If the new government found even the slightest connection, I wouldn’t be here today.”
