IED attacks kill 14 Pakistani soldiers in Balochistan
At least 14 Pakistani army personnel were killed in two separate IED attacks in Balochistan, highlighting the ongoing insurgency in the restive province.
In the first incident, a remote-controlled improvised explosive device (IED) struck a military convoy in the Shorkand area of Mach, located in Bolan district. The powerful explosion reportedly killed all 12 soldiers on board, including two Special Operations Commanders.
Later the same day, a second IED attack occurred in the Kulag Tigran area of Kech district, resulting in additional fatalities.
A spokesperson for the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Jeeyand Baloch, claimed responsibility for both attacks in a statement, calling the Pakistani military a “mercenary force.”
The attacks mark a sharp escalation in violence amid Balochistan’s long-running conflict, where separatist groups have accused the Pakistani state of political marginalisation, economic exploitation, and systemic human rights abuses.
