IED blast injures 3 in Geneva Camp
Three people have suffered injuries after an abandoned improvised explosive detonated near the Geneva Camp in Dhaka.
The incident occurred around 10:45am on Wednesday, said Ali Iftekhar Hasan, chief of the capital’s Mohammadpur Police Station.
The identity of the three victims was not immediately available.
Iftekhar said the explosion took place as they were removing a heap of garbage near the camp.
The injured have been sent to hospitals, he said.
After the fall of the Awami League government, clashes between several groups vying for control of the drug trade around the camp have run rampant. Four people have already died in the clashes. Many others have been injured.
Meanwhile, joint forces have conducted raids in and around the camp and arrested at least 50 criminals. Several local weapons were also recovered.
