IMF loan: Third tranche of $4.7b to be disbursed in June

Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali has said that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would disburse the third installment of 4.7 billion dollars of its loan to Banglade3sh in June next.

He revealed the information emerging out of a meeting with IMF Executive Director Krishnamurthy V Subramanian at the Secretariat in the capital on Sunday (May 26).

The finance minister said, "We are trying to increase the flow of dollars. We hope to solve this problem. We are working.”

“The IMF Executive Director has said that we are on the right track. They support what we are doing to resolve the problem,” said Mahmud Ali.

In reply to the query whether the third installment of the IMF loan would be disbursed in June, the finance minister said, “They will disburse it in June. There is no confusion here.”

He said, “There are three challenges in the budget: controlling inflation, increasing reserves and increasing revenue collection. In the next budget, we will try to free the people from the sufferings inflicted by inflation.”
