Inauguration of CMP e-traffic fine payment system through Community Bank
Traffic fine collection for Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) has officially started through Community Bank Bangladesh PLC. A special event was held on Thursday at the CMP Headquarters to mark the occasion.
Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz was present as the chief guest. During the event, an agreement was signed between Community Bank and CMP. Police Commissioner Hasib Aziz signed the agreement on behalf of CMP, while Md Mohammad Abdul Qaium Khan, Managing Director (Current Charge) of Community Bank, signed on behalf of the bank.
To train police officers on the e-traffic prosecution system and how fines will be collected, a 2-day training workshop was organized with the support of IT Consultants PLC (ITCL). On the final day of the workshop, it was announced that fines could now be paid easily using any bank card, mobile financial service, or banking app via POS machines.
Previously, it was difficult for people in Chattogram and nearby areas to pay traffic fines due to a lack of collection booths. To solve this problem, Community Bank introduced an upgraded POS (Point of Sale) system using advanced software. Through this system, people can instantly pay their fines using Visa, debit, or credit cards from any bank. Additionally, users can pay using Bangla QR codes approved by Bangladesh Bank through services like bKash, Nagad, Rocket, mCash, and 21 online banking apps. In total, 78 different payment gateways are now available for traffic fine payments.
All collected fines will be securely deposited into the government treasury using Community Bank’s payment channel. This new method also reduces the need to seize documents in most cases.
Among the guests present at the event were CMP's Additional Police Commissioner (Admin, Finance & Crime) Md. Humayun Kabir, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Asfiquzzaman Aktar, and other senior traffic officials. From Community Bank, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Shamsul Haque Sufyani, Head of Operations Sarfuddin Md. Redwan Patwari, SVP and Agrabad Branch Manager Md. Riaz Uddin, VP and Head of Card Zahir Ahmed, and SAVP and Andarkilla Branch Manager Abdullah-Al-Mamun were also present.
