India's first innings came to a premature end at just 150 runs before the tea break on Day One of the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The Indian batting line-up struggled under pressure, with Nitish Reddy being dismissed as the last wicket for a catch off Pat Cummins. Abhishek Reddy top-scored with 41 runs, while Rishabh Pant contributed 37. The pair shared the highest partnership of the innings, a 48-run stand for the seventh wicket.

India’s collapse began early, losing 6 wickets for 73 runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal were dismissed for ducks within the first hour. Virat Kohli (5) and Lokesh Rahul (26) followed soon after, further dampening India’s hopes.

Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood were the main architects of India’s downfall, each claiming two wickets to reduce India to 51/4 at lunch. Starc and Hazlewood's accuracy left the top-order in tatters, while KL Rahul’s dismissal on a controversial caught-behind decision added to the frustration. Hazlewood continued his remarkable form, taking 4 wickets for just 29 runs.

Despite some resilience from Pant and Dhruv Jurel, India’s innings never gained momentum, ending at a disappointing 150 runs.

Brief scores: India 150 all out (Abhishek Reddy 41, Rishabh Pant 37; Josh Hazlewood 4-29, Mitchell Starc 2-14) vs Australia.
