India have clinched the Champions Trophy for the third time. They defeated New Zealand by four wickets at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. They had previously won the title twice in 2002 and 2013. 25 years ago, Sourav Ganguly's India lost to New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final. Today, Rohit's team avenged that defeat.

Rohit could not win a single toss in the current Champions Trophy. The final was no exception. They lost the toss and were sent to field. New Zealand did not get off to a bad start when they came out to bat. But when they made 251 runs lossing seven wickets, the outcome of the match was anyone's guess. Daryl Mitchell (63), Bracewell (53*), Rachin (37), Phillips (34) contributed to the Kiwis' tally. India defeated New Zealand by using their spin power.

Batting for a target of 252 runs to win the title, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a great start of 105 runs. The partnership was broken when Gill was dismissed by Santner. Gill was dismissed for 31 runs. After that, India were in some trouble after losing 2 more wickets in 122 runs.

Virat Kohli could not shine in the final. This legendary batsman was dismissed for just one run. Indian captain Rohit Sharma played a brilliant innings of 76 runs with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Then Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel gave the team a lead. They made a partnership of 61 runs to ensure an easy victory for the team. KL Rahul finished the innings. New Zealand fell behind a lot in the match due to missed catches and missed fielding. Even if it was not for that, the final match would have been more colorful. Santner and Bracewell took 2 wickets each.
