In response to the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, Bangladesh's Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Islam has instructed the superintendents of police (SPs) in the country's 32 border districts to stay on high alert. The directive aims to ensure that no criminals or militants cross into Bangladesh amidst the ongoing tensions.

This instruction was revealed by Assistant Inspector General (Public Relations) Enamul Haque Sagar during a media briefing on Wednesday at the “Bangladesh Police Annual Shooting Competition and IGP Cup-2024,” which took place at the Bangladesh Sports Federation in Dhaka's Gulshan area.

Sagar explained that Bangladesh shares borders with India in 32 districts and with Myanmar in three. When asked about the role of the police amid the current conflict, he highlighted the IGP's warning to district SPs.

“The IGP has cautioned the 32 district superintendents of police to ensure that no security lapses occur during this critical time,” Sagar said. “He specifically emphasized that no militants or terrorists should be allowed to enter Bangladesh.”
